If the truck stalls (hesitates, stutters) or dies, then it needs replaced. (black) lightly tap on the top of the MAS with a screwdriver handle or a wrench.
If none of the above make a difference, start the truck and locate the MAS (mass air flow sensor) which is between the intake and the air filter. Upon changing fuel filter, make sure all air lines, fuel lines and vacuum lines are not kinked, or have holes in them.Ħ. Some vehicles don't run well, if at all with Premium fuel.ĥ. If you use Pemium fuel, use up what you can (if possible) and switch to regular (or vise versa). Pour rest of contents into tank (full tank) and drive.Ĥ.

Injected? On a full tank run one can of SeaFoam in the tank - first, pull vacuum lines and run through lines for about 20 seconds (will have to put hose in can, and manually rev the engine to keep from dying). Have you changed the fuel filter/airl filter recently? A plugged (dirty) fuel filter will cause this, as well as a plugged (dirty) air filter. ( should be able to hear wihtout strain)Ģ. Do you hear any pinging or knocking? A bent rod will cause loss of power. Hope this helps!Īnswer these questions to determine power loss while driving:ġ. If all that does not work you may need a ECM. Remember to check those plugs! Start with Relay, Fuel pump wires(drop that fuel tank), test the pump with 12v battery, replace pump if needed. I wished I knew this before spending $320 on a new pump. Several hours of internet searching told me this was a common problem with the connectors. I just cut off the brown connector and soldered on some new connectors. The brown plug on the inside of the tank was actually melted and let the black ground wire separate from the other connector. Wiggle the wires and connections while checking. The problem was intermittent and hard to find because sometimes it would make contact and sometimes it wouldn't. Take a tester and test all the fuel pump wires going into the fuel tank.
It ended up being the ground wire inside the fuel tank. Changed the fuel pump and did not fix it.
